In Phoenix, nurseries are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Arizona, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Check the listing for hours, seasonal closures and Google rating before you go.

Phoenix is in Arizona, in the Southwest, where the desert climate brings very hot summers, mild sunny winters and the summer monsoon; outdoor businesses shift their hours toward early mornings and evenings in the hottest months. Getting around Phoenix is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Arizona's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Super disappointed. I’m planning to call Whitfill tomorrow to see if they are willing to make this right, but here’s what happened. We purchased two Chinese elms from Whitfill Nursery in the spring of 2024 and paid Whitfill to install them. We took excellent care of both trees—they were regularly irrigated and professionally pruned by a licensed arborist. Despite that, both trees snapped at the base of the trunk during two separate windstorms several months apart. The independent arborist we hired told us that seeing two trees fail this way is consistent with improper planting and inadequate root establishment, such as failing to open or spread the root ball. Whether Whitfill agrees with that assessment or not, having two trees fail in the exact same manner was extremely concerning. We paid good money for these trees, paid Whitfill for the installation, and then had to cut up and haul away both trees ourselves. Altogether, I’ve spent well over $10,000 at Whitfill over the years, which makes this especially disappointing. By comparison, my brother had a similar issue with a tree from Moon Valley, and they honored their guarantee and replaced it. That’s the level of customer serv

Great selection of anything you need. From house plants, outdoor shrubs, fruit trees, flowers, etc. I went for a few fruit trees since they were having a Memorial Day sale. The selections was great. Found the trees I needed. An employee helped me load them on the cart and then into my car. Great customer service, great prices and great selection.

I didn't buy anything but the people were so kind! I wish I'd asked for her name but she was super sweet and understanding❣️I've never been a plant person but my Granny was! And I loved to help her tend the garden just to be in proximity of her‼️Anyways, this lady heard me, helped me, gave me information, gave me suggestions, and was sooo kind and patient with me! She'd even offered to transplant my baby if she had time. (They were definitely busy!!!) Y'all! When I say I'm not truly a plant person! I mean it lol! But she was able to hear me and meet me where I was. I'm so glad God gave me the right questions to ask also and hooked me up with great people❣️🙌🏿 Oan they have 2 big macaws there that are pretty beautiful too ❣️

It was so much fun. I got some great pictures of the plants I would love to take home. Unfortunately they won't let me take them on the plane.

We were looking for plants that could go in a fish tank. Although we did not find that, we found beautiful, healthy plants that were absolutely gorgeous. We walked into a room that looked like a rainforest and saw an employee that directed us to a few plants we hadn't considered. This plant could grow by the water, but not inside the tank. As she said, it liked to almost dry out between waterings... Aside from that we met the most beautiful cat that was so loving - my mother reached to pet it and it put it's paws on her shoulders and rubbed against her. SO SWEET! There were also 2 birds, a mostly blue macaw and one that was mostly red. Very pretty, but molting at the moment... so probably not as happy until that is over! LOL One of the employees fed one of them seeds while we watched, but I don't get as close to birds... the cat was lovely though. All the employees were very friendly and one offered to give my plant a drink before I took it home. The cost of the plants wasn't bad, it's like mom said, you pay for what you get. Sure, I could have gone to a box store and paid less, but Whitfills plants are so much healthier, and there is far more of a variety of plants than at a box
